Taking a quick look at some options for idle funds now that short-term yield is rather attractive at the moment.

In the table below, that’s the abbreviations that I have used.

• LionGlobal MMF = LionGlobal SGD Money Market Fund
• LionGlobal ELF = LionGlobal SGD Enhanced Liquidity Fund
• Fullerton CF = Fullerton SGD Cash Fund

1a) MoneyOwl : WiseSaver (3.88%)

MoneyOwl WiseSaver is a fund which invests in Singapore Dollar bank deposits, allowing you to earn higher returns with the ability to withdraw your funds whenever you need them.

Marketed as the perfect place for you to park your spare cash and emergency funds, as well as the “dry powder” that is set aside for investing when markets go on sale.

Underlying funds:

• 100% Fullerton SGD Cash Fund

1b) Endowus : Cash Smart Secure (3.40%)

Endowus Cash Smart comes in 3 different portfolios to cater to your risk profile.

For the sake of comparison, Cash Smart Secure was chosen as it reflected similar underlying funds as the other options listed in this blog post.

Explained to be stable and sound, Cash Smart Secure combines a cash fund that invests in institutional fixed deposits with one of Singapore’s best-performing money market funds.

Underlying funds:

• 50% Fullerton SGD Cash Fund
• 50% LionGlobal SGD Enhanced Liquidity

1c) Syfe : Cash+ (3.00%)

After the above two options, Syfe Cash+ is the third robo-advisor that offers us a chance to earn returns on idle cash.

Underlying funds:

• LionGlobal SGD Money Market Fund (30%)
• LionGlobal SGD Enhanced Liquidity Fund (70%)

1d) StashAway : Simple (2.80%)

With two cash management options, again I’ve selected the one for a more apple-to-apple comparison. In fact, it is identical to Syfe Cash+.

Underlying funds:

• LionGlobal SGD Money Market Fund (30%)
• LionGlobal SGD Enhanced Liquidity Fund (70%)

Underlying Fullerton SGD Cash Fund

It is no surprise that since MoneyOwl WiseSaver, Moomoo Cash Plus, Tiger Vault and Webull Wealth all utilizes the same underlying Fullerton SGD Cash Fund, they would have similar if not identical returns.

Therefore, it is simply a matter of choice or preference with regards to the platform to use.

Stock brokers:

If you’re already using online digital brokers such as Moomoo, Tiger or Webull, they would be a logical or even preferred choice since you may already be familiar to the respective platforms.

Robo Advisors:

If you’re not keen to use these “messy” mobile apps, MoneyOwl WiseSaver can be a good way to access the same underlying fund.

For my baseline comparison, here are some no-frills options:

• CIMB Fast Saver 1.5%
• Singlife 1.5% (Spend $500 e.g. top up Grab wallet for extra 0.5%)
• Singtel Dash 1.6%
• Singapore Savings Bonds 2.8%

Considering the liquid nature of the various cash management solutions, it is a really good idea to make use of them to let our idle cash work harder for us – regardless of which option we choose.
