At the end of every year, I make it a point to count my blessings and appreciate what I already have. Putting aside the eventual goal of investing, it is kind of amazing to note that the little things many of us take for granted are really a simple form of luxury.

A roof over my head. Clean water. Hot shower. Warm food. Internet. Comfortable bed. Loving wife.

Right from the start, when I started writing on this blog, I have been thinking of simple ways to do my part. To pay it forward.

In previous years, I’ve usually done my own thing by donating what I could (consider giving your support to Club Rainbow and chronically ill children) and holding a fun little giveaway contest to my awesome readers. Yes – you!

I have learnt a lot from many others who were tremendously selfless and generous when I first started my investment journey, and I hope my little gestures would continue to help many others. Hopefully, with the knowledge that they have gained, they can continue to pay it forward.

Originally known as #GivingTuesdaySG, The Giving Week (Dec 1-7) is a national movement dedicated to giving back. Businesses, non-profits, and individuals across Singapore come together and launch their own giving activity on December 1 for the week, through fundraising, donating, volunteering, random-acts-of-kindness in the spirit of giving, as well as recognising people’s contributions in making a difference.

This year, in conjunction with #GivingWeek which runs from 1st to 7th December, I’ve gotten a couple of blogger friends (not necessarily in the finance niche) to spread the spirit of giving (time, money, thoughts, groceries, anything really) and pitching a charity or two that we support.

One of my personal favourite charity is Club Rainbow. I’d like to think of it as an early Christmas gift for the kids. =)

Learn More About Club Rainbow

Established in 1992, Club Rainbow (Singapore) is a registered charity committed to helping children and youths suffering from a range of chronic and potentially life-threatening illnesses. As an independent charity, Club Rainbow does not receive any financial help from the Government or other agencies. We rely totally on donations from philanthropic corporations and caring individuals to sustain our programmes.
