For such a low risk instrument and being able to invest in something that yields 2.63% or more?!
The SSB chart has been quite spectacular given the massive rebound in interest rates that took place this year.

In my opinion, SSBs pretty much crushes the competition when it comes to looking for a place to park some idle cash. The first year % alone hits a high of 2.63% which is the highest of all time.
That’s better than many banks, fixed deposits and robo-advisors right now.

I’m expecting heavy interest in SSBs just like what happened for last month’s tranche and would be happy to get $10,000 (or more) which would yield the following –

Sure, Singapore Savings Bonds (SSBs) can be slightly illiquid.
Assuming that we meet the redemption criteria –

Then, we will always receive the amount requested by 2nd business day of the following month.
Not that fantastic for emergencies. That’s why I still have some cash in Singlife and Singtel Dash PET earning 1.5% – for those two, liquidity is close to instant. Not sure how long my funds will stay in them though.
Pro-tip for Singlife bonus 0.5% if you are not aware. The campaign states that simply spend at least S$500 with the Singlife card every card spend period to qualify for an extra 0.5% p.a. return on the first S$10,000 in your Singlife Account.
An open secret is to route your money this way : Singlife > Top up Grab wallet > Withdraw to bank account > Top up Singlife – and you’ll get the bonus 0.5% on $10,000 which comes up to $50 a year. So, here you go!
Riskier moves
At the moment, I’m still earning about 7-8% with stablecoins on CeFi and DeFi, and even that is considered a little risky in the current climate.
Meanwhile, DeFi OG projects Aave and Curve are both coming out with their own stablecoins so that should present some opportunities for yield in future.
With the implosion and insolvency of various CeFi platforms, it would be prudent to limit the use of lending platforms although things have quietened down quite a bit compared to June and July. Thinking I might move some funds soon.
Anyway, let’s enjoy the 2.63% SSBs for now. Be interesting to see what happens in subsequent months.
